On Feb 27, 2015 I decided to do one of the Lion’s Club Centennial Service Challenges, Relieving The Hunger, in M. Nepomuceno Public Elementary School in Angeles City, Philippines.

For this project, my original plan was to only feed 500 children, which then changed to 1000 children. However, after deep reflection and prayer, I decided I wanted to feed the entire school. This consisted of 1875 children, 52 teachers and the support staff. I did not want any anyone to feel left out due to not receiving any food or candy. So, we prepared 2000 bags of candy, 2000 juice packs, 2000 hot dogs, 2000 pieces of macaroni, 55 chicken sandwiches, and 4 dozen of ensaymada.

This was the most ambitious project I had ever carried out in my life. With no past experience in fundraising and just the confidence to ask, the generosity of family and friends helped make this project a huge success. I was overwhelmed with joy and very thankful to all the volunteers and sponsors who helped me put happy faces on the children and school staff we served.

From this, I decided that every year I want reach out to 2000 children in need. I want to provide them with the tools for success, such as backpacks, school supplies, sports equipment, clothes, shoes, and many more. My hope is that they will be inspired to work hard and achieve their dreams.

With your help, it is my hope to be able to reach these children and continue this project for the future years.
